The Model 2416 is a 1.75 inch low profile, 19 inch rack mount, 13 inch deep, high density 2-wire to 4-wire converter device. It is designed for airport fiber optic communication systems or similar applications where multiple channels of 2-wire to 4-wire conversions are required and available rack space is limited. Each Model 2416 converts either 4, 8, 12 or 16 channels of 2-wire voice frequency signal lines to the corresponding 4-wire-transmit and 4-wire-receive lines and vice versa. The converter is based on the conventional two-transformer ("hybrid") design and uses all passive circuit elements for their inherently high reliability. The insertion loss is fixed at 4 dB/8 dB, jumper selectable. Other values are available. The 2-wire line impedance may be 600 or 1200 Ohms depending on the DIP switch settings. The 4-wire line impedance is 600 Ohms. The intrinsic transhybrid loss is better than 55 dB. A capacitance balance network for 2-wire line length compensation is also provided for each channel. All 2-wire and 4-wire lines are accessed from three 50 position telco connectors on the rear panel. Its self-contained, connector ready, passive construction eliminates the need for custom back plane wiring and separate power supplies. Since active components are not used, once installed and connected, a maintenance free operation can be expected. Features:
