| The Model ARD24 contains multi-channel
solid state switches used to switch DC relay coil current or other similar applications.
It is designed to turn on/off a relay device that is in turn controlling the Antenna
Change Over coax relays for FAA applications. In a typical FAA application, the ARD24
accepts keying commands from a Channel Bank to control the corresponding output
transistor. The Model ARD24 consists of twenty-four separate relay driving transistor switches. They are housed in a compact 1.75" high, 19" wide standard rack mount enclosure. All wiring is accessed through four rear connectors: J1 (CB Main), J2 (CB Standby), J3 (Remote Keying), and J4 (Relays). The CB Main and the CB Standby lines are the two input controls for each channel. Keying (or "grounding") the CB Main line turns off the output transistor while keying the CB Standby line turns on the output transistor. In a typical application, the output transistor drives a relay which in turn is wired to control the antenna changeover relay. Channels 1, 2, 3, and 4 have additional input control lines for the purpose of Main and Standby Remote Keying (from Flight Service Station, for an example). The Remote Keying lines are connected to J3, a 25 pin D-sub connector. Both J1 and J2 are telco style 50 pin socket connectors. The output transistor lines for driving external relays are routed to J4, a telco style 50 pin plug connector. Model ARD24 Antenna Changeover
