The SDVX-1 Generic Transfer Switch is a multiple channel A/B switching instrument designed for airport fiber optic communication system applications. It routes electrical signals within the FAA communication and control loop to either the clockwise or the counter clockwise system. The SDVX-1 Generic Transfer Switch can be used in airport and other communication and control systems where passive static multiple channel A/B signal switching is required. The SDVX-1 consists of 22 high quality, low contact resistance double pole double throw, two coil latching relays. They are organized as sets of 8 relays each in Groups 1, 2 and a set of 6 relays in Group 3. Group 3 is intended for switching a higher level signal current. Each group has an independent SET and RESET (or A and B) control. These relays provide switching for a total of 44 signal channels for each SDVX-1 unit. Additionally there is a read back relay in each group. The switching circuits and their controls are accessed from rear panel multi-position connectors. The SDVX-1 Generic Transfer Switch is a passive multiple channel switching system which requires external power only when the relay coils are being momentarily driven to initiate an A/B state change.
